For the 9th edition, the capital will live on the sound of Jazz music during the all summer. Locals and tourists can gather to parks, miradouros, streets and others public places to enjoy some free concerts. Every Saturday and Sunday from 5pm, enjoy a musical rest after a nice tour through the beautiful Lisbon.
The FIARTIL is back this year for its 52th edition, in Estoril, only few kilometres away from Lisbon. The market highlights Portuguese traditions and know-hows. Hundreds of craftsmen will show you the traditional and contemporary technics of Portuguese handcraft. The night market (from 6pm to 12pm) is animated by varied entertainment and activities for children and adults. In the new food court, composed of various restaurants and kiosks, you will taste delicious regional foods. FIARTIL is a good opportunity to discover Portuguese culture from the old times to nowadays.
Semanas de Música do Estoril (Estoril Music Weeks) will take place from June 28th to August 2nd, in Lisbon surroundings. This festival, which promotes young talents of the classical music and hosts artists worldwide known, celebrates its 40th Anniversary. At this occasion, the new concept Festival & Heritage will open historical places, such as churches, palaces, to the performers and public. After a day on the lovelies beaches of Estoril, enjoy some Fado, Symphonic music or all kind of music from all over the world.
The city of Tomar, ancient headquarter of the Order of the Knights Templar, organizes every 4 years the Festa dos Tabuleiros. Those festivities, celebrated since the XIII century, bring peoples from all over the world. The main attraction is the local population parade. Girls, helped by their male partner, carry on their head the traditional Tabuleiros, 30 stacked pieces of bread decorated with flowers. In 2011, the parade counted 704 Tabuleiros. Experience a travel back in time at the Medieval Fair in Óbidos. From July 16th to August 2nd, the medieval soul of Óbidos wakes up, and brings back knights, wizards, jugglers, wandering minstrels and musicians into the charming streets of the citadel, built centuries ago. More than 100 food, beverage and traditional merchandises sellers will offer you meals and handcrafts from the old time. During the afternoon, enjoy knights’ joust on horseback and all the activities and shows all over the castle.
